Serious about tech archive

Hello there, this blog is a detailed work process of Team SAT (Serious About Tech). We are participants at “MIT and Harvard’s” IMPACTLABS Nigeria Summer workshop 2017. The workshop started August 14th and will end August 25th, 2017. It took place in University of Benin, Ugbowo Campus, Benin, Edo state.

We are working on a wireless electric transfer system using an electric phone charger for the demonstration. We’ll be posting pictures and short notes in our building process. You should be able to replicate the design process at your convenience.

The team members’ info

  1. Pharez Ajibade
  2. Fatima Konto
  3. Afolabi Akinfaderin
  4. Sophie Obomighie
  5. Davidson Nwaonu
  6. Oluwatobiloba Adegoke

Principle

It works on the principle of electromagnetic induction and coupling between 2 coils which allows the transfer of energy between the 2 coils, this, in turn, allows transfer of electricity between the 2 coils based on the range of electromagnetic induction.

Tools and Apparatus used

  1. Multimeter
  2. LED’s
  3. Solderless breadboard (We improvised with an Arduino board)
  4. Copper foil
  5. Enamel Wire
  6. Solder Iron
  7. 2N-222A Transistor
  8. Iron fillings

We’ll advise you have extra of every tool because mistakes do happen and you could blow up your transistor (like we did).
